Objective of the programme
The aim of the programme is to promote livelihoods in Nigeria through value chain promotion to increase economic growth, employment and incomes. The programme will be active in the Niger Delta region and will utilise the Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) approach to ensure that interventions are pro-poor and inclusive of vulnerable groups, working in close collaboration with the extractive industries to support community engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities
Work closely with the team to successfully implement the gender focus strategy across the programme- integrating gender strategy into programme interventions and M&E
Lead the coordination for the initial gathering and analyzing of gender data, and conduct programmed surveys and assessments among targeted women’s groups
Integrate the gender focus in the programme Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy, including developing verifiable indicators to monitor the impact of the program on women participants and training the local M&E assistant on gathering information for these indicators.
Identify and recommend needed program changes to other long-term staff based on monitoring and evaluation results
During the design phase Participate in the design of programme activities, in order to ensure that any relevant women’s issues are addressed throughout the project implementation activities and women are included in the dialogue with clients
During the implementation phase, provide written periodic progress reports to the Programme Support Unit on the gender program
Act as an advocate for women’s participation through frequent dialogue with program staff, women clients, and government officials
Organize and lead periodic seminars on current women’s issues (as appropriate)
Serve as a liaison between women clients and other programs to the benefit of those

Advanced degree in related field
Experience designing appropriate interventions to meet project goals in assisting women and the disadvantaged
Experience working with international donor-funded projects, international non-governmental organizations on relevant programs in increasing economic growth, employment and incomes
Demonstrable experience in integrating gender into similar programs
Strong skill set in reporting, monitoring and evaluation
Experience working with donors such as DFID, UNDP, World Bank
Experience of leading teams of consultants on development assignments
Experience in working in fragile states and or/experience in Nigeria/Niger Delta will be a distinct advantage
Excellent communication skills and fluency in English is essential
