Job description
SMIT Lamnalco operates in 4 regions.  The region Nigeria operates from Lagos.

To strengthen the regional team and to facilitate the growth scenario of the region Smit Lamnalco has an opening for a

Regional Controller Nigeria

The purpose of this position is: To manage the financial affairs of the region and ensure an adequate financial management is in place and maintained in order to assure the optimal business decisions are made in line with internal and external regulations.

The Regional Controller Nigeria reports hierarchically to the  Managing Director of the region and functionally to the Group Controller.

Expectations for the Controller Nigeria are that he/she:
Acts as an independent Business partner for the RMD and provide guidance and meaningful business information to improve the business performance of the region.
Conducts detailed reviews and analysis of financial statements and management reports including variances analysis and drives change proposals for improvement.
Supports the business by providing timely and accurate management information.
Drives pro-actively the regional planning, budgeting and forecasting process.
Ensures continuation of the daily finance operations and ensures adequacy of accounts, controls, P&L, balance sheet reporting and reconciliation’s., by overseeing and guiding the local financial team.
Implements and ensures appropriate financial and internal controls in compliance with Group Finance policies and procedures.
Ensures regional and local compliance.
Manages the risk by conducting risks assessments on business and finance processes within the region, to pro-actively identifies and resolves potential business and/or financial risks in a timely manner.
Minimizes financial liabilities and maximizes revenues.
Works with internal and external auditors on regional statutory audit and tax requirements.

Job requirements
To be successful in this role you will have:

Bachelor or Master degree in Business Economics,  Accounting & Control
5 to 8 years relevant experience with business control in an international organization, preferably related to marine industry or oil and gas
Strong in business partnering and sense of urgency
Experience with ERP systems.
Strong analytical skills and capable to work in a challenging, dynamic and international environment
Organizational and environmentally sensitive, excellent influencing skills, result oriented, flexible, pro-active, team player.
Able to recommend and implement process improvements
Fluently  in English

This is an expat position.
