Health and Safety Technician needed at Amec Foster Wheeler

Amec Foster Wheeler is currently looking for two experienced Health and Safety Technicians to join our growing construction team in Guam. The ideal candidates should be interested in the field construction side of the business. The health and safety technician will work directly with our field teams in a “hands on” construction environment.

Job Title: Health and Safety Technician

Job Description

  • Write, implement and maintain job hazard analysis, job safety analysis, job safety analysis plans, permit to work and conduct daily safety meetings
  • Understand and implement behavior based safety techniques and tactics, speak in front of groups of people to communicate safety messages
  • Observe and comply with all company and specific site safety and project policies, conduct accident and incident investigations to find root cause and suggest improvements
  • Supply input to Job Safety Analysis and frequent improvements or changes to Job Safety Analysis Plans
  • Work independently and conduct tasks with limited supervision
  • Participate in process hazard analyses, training, etc., supporting technical staff to implement engineering controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards.
  • Support personnel in selection of appropriate personal protective equipment and employees are trained on proper use
  • Conducts daily walkthrough of the project site(s) ensuring work is being accomplished safely and occupational health is not compromised
  • Attends and participate in all preparatory and initial quality control phase meetings
  • Conduct weekly safety meetings for all workers
  • Produce a Daily Safety Report of activities performed
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Current OSHA 30 hour construction certificate within the last 5 years and competent person status as required
  • EM-385-1-1 40 hour training, certified safety trained supervisor in construction (STS-C), air field experience, and CPR/First Aid training desirable
Skills and Experience
  • Appropriate formal training, certifications, experience and documented performance executing and monitoring safe operations for construction safety and health
  • Minimum 5 years of previous health and safety experience on construction projects of a progressive nature
  • Strong writing and technical skills
  • Detail oriented with the ability to balance a diverse and changing workload
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Safety related accreditations a plus but not required if the candidate has the appropriate level of experience
  • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
