Job Title: Program Assistant

Description

  • Reporting directly to the Program Manager-Health, the Short Term Program Assistant (PA) will support in the development of Cuso International’s health, gender equality and social inclusion work under the VOICE program in Cross River State, Nigeria, including volunteer management. 
  • This will include supporting in the development of strategic partnerships with government, corporate sector, civil society and donors, developing volunteer placements, supporting volunteers, building networks. 
  • The post holder will provide administrative support to the program and Country Programme Office international volunteers, in line with Cuso International’s requirements. 
  • The STPA will also contribute to the strategic development of the administrative functions in the VOICE Program, leading its implementation and ensuring standards, policies and procedures and practices are consistent with Cuso International administrative systems and procedures. 

Responsibilities 

  • Support the smooth functioning of placement development and volunteer management systems and processes within the Country Program Office and with other Cuso International staff and teams
  • outside of country.
  • Ensure the impact of Cuso International’s health, gender equality and social inclusion work, and any issues arising, are captured and promoted into relevant practice and policy debates
  • With support from Program Manager Health and Field/HQ staff, ensure gender sensitive monitoring and evaluation systems are in place and understood by partners and volunteers, and that all relevant
  • deadlines and reports are produced in a timely manner.
  • As necessary, support or contribute to the development of concept notes and proposals.

Qualification

  • Diploma/Degree in the Social Sciences and/or Business Administration with emphasis in management or acceptable combination of education, training and /or experience related to job requirements.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in the area of finance and business Administration and volunteer management.
  • Reasonable knowledge and practice in accounting.
  • Fluency in English is essential.
  • Excellent financial planning, budgeting and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to understand and work with restricted and unrestricted funds concepts and with financial management policy frameworks.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Efficient communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen, be patient, diplomatic and maintain confidentiality.
  • Good organization, time management, planning and priority setting skills, and demonstrated initiative Sound judgment and effective problem solving abilities.
  • Flexibility to adapt to new situations with a positive and professional attitude towards working within the organization’s standards.
  • Strong attention to details and good track record in administrative support
  • Excellent team player, able and willing to work flexibly to ensure objectives of the team are met.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally in and out of the country where need arises.
