Job Description
- Our Client, a manufacturing company in Nigeria seeks to fill the position of an Accountant, to analyze all business transactions, accounts audit and provide updates and valuable information about the company’s financial records
Job Responsibilities
- Through research and follow up, ensures that reconciling items and discrepancies in accounting data are resolved in a timely manner
- Summarize current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement and other reports
- Implementation and documentation of accounting systems and related interfaces
- Recommends and implements system modifications to improve internal control, increase efficiency or reduce costs
- Evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of business processes, procedures and accounting assumptions on an ongoing basis
- Responsible for the preparation of the Company’s financial statements
- Manage month-end and year-end close process
- Update and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations for monthly and quarterly reviews and annual audits and filings
- Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
- Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
- Prepare asset, liability and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information
- Guide accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions
- Secure financial information by completing database backups
- Verify, allocate, post and reconcile transactions
- Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
- Analyse financial information and summarize financial status
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or any Finance related discipline
- M.Sc in Accounting or any Finance related field would be an added advantage
- Must possess professional accounting qualifications; ICAN, ACA, ACCA or any other recognized professional qualification
- Minimum of 2 – 3 years of proven experience in corporate finance or accounting
- Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Excellent organisational and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skill.A strong work ethic and integrity
- ERP experience (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
- Knowledge of business intelligence software
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency in preparing financial statements
- Data query/data management abilities
