Job Position: Digital Skills Promotion Officer

Job Location: Maiduguri, Borno

Job Description

  1. We are seeking a talented and experienced digital skills promotor to join our organization and support our mission of expanding digital skills to women, hard-to-reach youths and People with Disability (PwD) in Borno.
  2. The digital skills promotion Officer will play a critical role in establishing and managing CSO social media presence and online tools, as well as training hub facilitators and supporting digital transformation efforts.
  3. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of digital hardware, digital skills, and be able to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  4. The promotor will also play a key role in bringing digital skill initiatives closer to women, hard-to-reach you and People with Disability.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Train CSOs and boost social media presence, with a focus on Instagram and Twitter, as a means for grassroots lobbying and garnering public support for expanding digital services to rural areas.
  2. Train IT hub facilitators on the use of digital hardware and software, as well as facilitating digital skills training for communities in rural areas.
  3. Support the establishment and management of digital transformation hubs in Borno and Yobe selected local government areas, working closely with the government and other departments and stakeholders.
  4. Maintain accurate documentation of all digital hardware and software assets and ensure they are being used effectively and efficiently.
  5. Provide technical support to hub facilitators, including resolving hardware and software problems and answering questions about the use of digital tools.
  6. Keep abreast of the latest technologies and trends in the digital transformation space, and make recommendations for upgrades or new systems as appropriate.
  7. Work with other departments to identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
  8. Establish media partnerships with top radio broadcasters in Borno and Yobe State to further raise awareness and mobilize stakeholders to support the organization’s efforts.
  9. Monitor and maintain the security of the organization’s digital channels and systems.
  10. Continuously keep abreast of the latest technologies and trends in the IT industry and make recommendations for upgrades or new systems as appropriate.
  11. Utilize IT initiatives to realize digital transformation and support the closing of digital gender gaps.

Job Requirements

Knowledge / Experience

  1. Relevant University Degree.
  2. Proven working experience of at least 2 years in project implementation especially in the non-profit sector.
  3. Affinity with development work and International NGO’s.
  4. Ability to write clear and concise reports.
  5. Project cycle management (PCM).
  6. Excellent in English in reading, writing, and speaking.
  7. Excellent spoken and written command of Hausa or Kanuri.
  8. Good computer skills (Excel, Word).

 Selection criteria

  • Qualified candidates from Borno State, Maiduguri would be given higher priority. Female qualified candidates are highly encouraged to apply.

Working Condition

  • The Duty station will be Maiduguri with regular travel to other ZOA’s and its partners’ program LGAs in Borno State and occasional travel to partners’ working locations in Yobe State.
