The License enables EMTS provide Fixed Telephony (wired or wireless), Digital Mobile Services, International Gateway Services and National/Regional Long Distance Services in addition to spectrum assignments in the 900 and 1800 MHz bands.

Job Position: Senior Engineer – Fibre Infrastructure

Job Location: Abuja

Job Description

  1. Support and supervise the operations & maintenance activities of EMTS National fibre network infrastructure
  2. Support and supervise the operations & maintenance activities of the metropolitan fibre network infrastructure.
  3. Work and support other transmission resolver teams carrying out planned activities, maintenance, and corrections as it interfaces with the fibre infrastructure.
  4. Develop &ensure adherence to proper operation & maintenance processes and procedures to guide the fibre maintenance vendors
  5. Evolve and maintain in-depth knowledge and database of existing fibre infrastructure, links and interconnecting transmission nodes.
  6. Provide high level support functions to the field team in resolving all operational concerns on Optical transmission equipment across the network.
  7. Oversee the acceptance of new Fibre Infrastructure & Optical transmission Equipment.
  8. Generate performance & maintenance reports for all Fibre Infrastructure & Optical transmission equipment.
  9. Perform other duties as instructed by the Fixed, Microwave & Field Transmission Operations Managers.

Job Requirements  

  1. First Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  2. Minimum of Four (4) years relevant post NYSC work experience with Fibre Infrastructure & Optical transmission.
  3. On-field experience with Fibre deployment & maintenance activities (FOCs installation, testing, splicing, other tools)
  4. Working knowledge of Optical transmission equipment & networks.

Experience, Skills & Competencies:
Knowledge:

  1. Fiber Optic Cabling infrastructure
  2. Optical Transmission & Network technologies (DWDM, ASON, SNCP, SDH, etc.)
  3. Service Continuity Management, Monitoring and Control
  4. Network Operations
  5. Telecommunications& Mobile Network Standards & Specifications.
