Tomato Jos is a private equity-backed, fast-growing social enterprise located in Kaduna, Nigeria, that believes in the power of local production for local consumption. Our company aims to supply 10% of the processed tomato market in Nigeria within the next 5 years. We source tomatoes from smallholder farmers within our network and make high-quality branded consumer products for Nigeria and West Africa. We currently operate a 500Ha commercial farm and run a successful smallholder program with over 500 farmers. In 2020, the company built a tomato processing facility and we will conduct our first production run in Q1/Q2 2021, with an aim to launch our first retail packaged product later this year. Job Position: Field Sales Manager

Job Location: Onitsha, Anambra

Job Description

  1. Manage the sales team & all activities within assigned territory to achieve optimum coverage and distribution of TJ’s products in all the relevant outlets in an efficient & effective way, to ensure market share growth.
  2. Develop the capability of Sales Representatives through regular trainings, guidance, coaching & accompaniments, and spot & back checks.
  3. Motivate Sales Representatives to achieve sales quotas and evaluate their performance regularly.
  4. Achieve sales driver’s objectives in assigned territory- Distribution, Quality, Visibility, Pricing, Promotion, and Persuasion.
  5. Responsible for total business target achievement in the assigned territory.
  6. Recruit Distributors and ensure regular review of Joint Business Plans for business growth and sustainability through appropriate investment.
  7. Recruit and manage sub-distributors and wholesalers to achieve sales target in assigned territory.
  8. Managing all sales channels effectively, efficiently, and profitably.
  9. Achieve agreed business targets/KPIs for the area (primary & secondary sales, coverage, Call rate, productivity, Product Mix, NPD)
  10. Gather market intelligence and information about competitors and share with the marketing team to enable coordinated efforts to gain market share and meet targets.
  11. Ensure adequate and prompt reporting of Sales and marketing activities in assigned territory as and when due.
  12. Achieve prompt reconciliation of promotions, Measuring & Evaluation (M&E) & promo-impact assessments.

Job Requirements

  1. B.Sc Degree / HND in Business Administration/Management, Marketing or related field is preferred.
  2. At least 4 years’ experience in a similar role with similar responsibilities in the FMCG industry.
  3. Excellent track records in consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets & KPIs.
  4. Excellent computer skills, including MS office and Google suite
  5. Excellent communication, coaching and people management skills.
  6. Proven ability to manage teams.
  7. Problem-solving skills.
  8. Cautiously optimistic, personable, and resolute.

Additional Qualifications and Experience That Will Set You Apart

  1. Ability to research, compile, analyse, and interpret sales data.
  2. Conversant with the agricultural value chain.
  3. A good team player with the ability to adapt in a fast paced environment.
  4. Fluency in Igbo will be an added advantage.
