Job Position: Legal Assistant

Job Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Description

  • A Legal Assistant is a professional who conducts legal research, drafts documents, emails, and signatures for lawyers when they’re unable to.
  • Overall, they’re responsible for supporting lawyers and making their job easier by handling administrative tasks

Job Responsibilities

  1. Provide administrative support to lawyer and enhance office effectiveness.
  2. Handle communication with clients, witnesses etc.
  3. Administratively support and attend trials
  4. Prepare seal documents
  5. File and document all legal documents and more.
  6. Deal with clients/Public matters as directed by legal head and as relate to company service and policy.
  7. Prepare case briefs and summarize depositions, interrogatories and testimony
  8. Conduct investigations and statistical/documentary research
  9. Locate and develop case relevant information
  10. Type up and file basic legal documents and correspondence
  11. Answer and direct phone calls
  12. Maintain contact lists
  13. Monitor deadlines and juggle calendars

Job Requirements

  1. Legal Assistant certification or diploma.
  2. Proven working experience as Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary.
  3. Familiarity with law, legal procedures and protocols, and court system
  4. Satisfactory knowledge of day-to-day operations of a legal office
  5. Computer literacy
  6. Proficiency in English
  7. Working knowledge of case management software.
  8. Excellent secretarial and organisational skills
  9. Ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure

N80,000 – N150,000 / month.
