Job Description

  1. We are looking to hire a Quantity Surveyor (QS) to prepare schedules of materials requisitions for products for a Furniture Manufacturing company.
  2. The Quantity Surveyor (QS) will be responsible for the technical drawings and preparing materials lists for production led projects to ensure they are completed efficiently.
  3. Overall, the QS will play a crucial role in managing material requisition, production drawings, quality and compliance, making them essential for the successful completion of projects.
  4. Main responsibilities are: Quantity Estimation:Calculating material quantities needed for production and estimating project costs andTechnical Drawings:Producing and reviewing technical drawings and blueprints using relevant software in a way that it can be interpreted by the production team.

Quantity Estimation:

  1. Prepare accurate material requisitions from architectural, engineering drawings or briefs
  2. Calculate material quantities required for production

Technical Drawings:

  1. Produce technical drawings and blueprints using relevant software.
  2. Collaborate with architects and engineers to create construction drawings.
  3. Ensure technical drawings comply with industry standards and regulations.

Project Management:

  1. Monitor project progress and costs.
  2. Identify and address potential issues that could affect the project’s budget.
  3. Collaborate with project managers to ensure efficient project delivery.

Value Engineering:

  1. Analyze construction methods and materials to find cost-effective alternatives.
  2. Suggest value engineering solutions that maintain quality while reducing costs.

Risk Management:

  1. Identify potential risks and uncertainties in construction projects.
  2. Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans

Documentation and Record-Keeping:

  1. Maintain accurate project records, including drawings, contracts, and change orders.
  2. Ensure compliance with document control procedure

Quality Control:

  1. Monitor construction work to ensure it aligns with technical drawings and specifications.

Job Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field
  2. Minimum of 5 years’ previous work experience in a furniture manufacturing company.
